                    Welcome to
The special education laws established to guide schools in their practice of providing services to students and their families are often difficult to understand and impossible to navigate.  C.A.S.T., which stands for Collaborative Advocacy of South Texas, is an advocacy group that works with families and schools to align their goals to provide the greatest educational benefit for the student.  C.A.S.T. works with parents and guardians of students with disabilities to help them understand what should be expected from a public school special education program and what is within their rights of the law.  C.A.S.T. also works with schools to assist in their goal of building a family-school relationship and understanding the needs of families of children with disabilities.

          Priorities:
  • Be a voice for parents
  • Be a voice for students
  • Advocate for the family-school relationship
  • Bring community resources to the family

          Goals:
  • Equal education for all students
  • Open and honest discussion with families and schools
  • Free and appropriate education as identified in the law

C.A.S.T. is based out of San Antonio, Texas.  For information outside of the local area, please call or send us an email.  The initial phone consultation is provided at no cost to the family or to the school.
